Holiday entertaining can get stressful, but with this delicious cocktail recipe by Elizabeth Harris of Floating Kitchen you can start the season off just right. By infusing floral flavors like Elderflower and Rosemary as well as adding Royal Riviera Pears, this holiday drink will become a seasonal favorite.

It’s the season for sipping on fancy cocktails! This Pear Gin Fizz with Elderflower and Rosemary has a secret… it looks fancy, but this seasonal cocktail is actually incredibly easy to make. There are no crafty bartender skills required, and you won’t have to go on a chase for hard-to-source liqueurs. This cocktail makes holiday entertaining fun and low stress.

Pear Gin Fizz Cocktail With Southern Oregon-Grown Royal Riviera® Pears

This cocktail recipe starts with a homemade pear-rosemary purée, made with Harry & David’s famously delicious Royal Riviera Pears. The purée will be thick on its own, but it thins and smooths out beautifully once incorporated with the other ingredients in the cocktail. The result: a beverage with lots of lively, luscious pear flavor.

The pear-rosemary purée will keep for a couple days when stored properly in your refrigerator. Plus, you should have enough to easily craft a dozen cocktails. You can make it in advance, then just shake up individual drinks once your guests arrive.

The Elderflower liqueur adds some subtle floral notes to this cocktail while adding a touch of sweetness. Depending on your taste buds, you can choose to use either club soda for a less sweet version, or tonic water for a sweeter version. Either way, this Pear Gin Fizz Cocktail will be one of your favorite holiday cocktails, Happy Sipping.

INGREDIENTS:

PEAR-ROSEMARY PURÉE

4 cups peeled and chopped Harry & David Royal Riviera Pears

3/4 cups water

2 tablespoons sugar

Juice from 2 lemons

1 sprig fresh rosemary

COCKTAILS (recipe makes 2)

3 ounces pear-rosemary purée

3 ounces gin

1.5 ounces elderflower liqueur

Ice Cubes

Tonic water or club soda

GARNISH

Sliced Harry & David Royal Riviera Pears

Fresh rosemary

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped pears, water, sugar, lemon juice and rosemary. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12minutes. The pears should be softened.
2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool. Remove and discard the rosemary sprig. Then transfer the cooked pears and any remaining liquid in the saucepan to your blender and blend on high until smooth. Transfer the pear-rosemary purée to a clean re-sealable container and refrigerate until well chilled. The purée can be stored for 2-3 days.
3. For the cocktails, add the pear-rosemary purée, gin and elderflower liqueur to a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until well chilled. Then strain the liquid into two serving glasses with ice. Top with tonic water or club soda. Garnish with sliced pears and rosemary. Enjoy immediately.

2018 Gourmet Happy Halloween Pretzel Rod Sweepstakes

OFFICIAL RULES:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES, INCLUDING THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, WHO ARE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AS OF THE DATE OF ENTRY WHO HAVE OR OPEN AN ACCOUNT ON INSTAGRAM.COM. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

1. ENTRY PERIOD: 1-800-BASKETS.COM® 2018 Gourmet Happy Halloween Pretzel Rod Sweepstakes (hereinafter the “Sweepstakes”) begins at 11:00 AM EDT on 10/22/2018 and ends approximately at 11:59 PM EDT on 10/28/2018 (the “Entry Period”).

2. HOW TO ENTER/PARTICPATE: You must be 21 or older at the time on entry and have or open an account on Instagram.com to participate in the Sweepstakes. Accounts are free and can be opened by visiting Instagram.com. Five (5) random winners will be selected.

To enter the Sweepstakes you must do three easy things:

1. First, you must follow 1-800-BASKETS.COM® on Instagram @1800baskets
2. Second, you must like the photo in the Sweepstakes post; and
3. Third, you must a) respond to post in the comments and tell us “Do you love the toppings, the caramel or both?; b) tag three (3) friends; and c) include #Sweepstakes

ADDITIONAL ENTRY TERMS & CONDITIONS. Use of computer programs and/or other automated devices to enter the Sweepstakes are prohibited. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by your on-line service will apply.  By entering and using the promoted hashtags (#Sweepstakes) you understand that a) the Sponsor has the exclusive right to use your entry and excerpts of your entry in any advertising and promotional materials (visual, sound, print and/or electronic form), including posting entries or portions thereof on its websites, social media accounts/pages, advertising. etc; b) you grant any and all necessary rights and licenses provided herein, including without limitation, all necessary copyright and other related rights to the entry, free and clear of all claims and encumbrances without violating the rights of any person or entity, including any right to privacy or publicity; and c) you hereby hold the Sponsor harmless from and against any third party claim arising from use of the entry and waive any right to inspect or approve uses of the entry or to be compensated for any such uses. 3. SWEEPSTAKES PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES (“ARV”):

Five (5) winners will be selected; each will receive the 1-800-BASKETS.COM® Gourmet Happy Halloween Pretzel Rods (product code #96075).   The ARV of each prize is $29.99 USD.  Total ARV of all prizes is $149.95 USD.

4. WINNER SELECTION: Upon the conclusion of the Entry Period all responses that are eligible entries during the Entry Period will be pooled together and five (5) random winners selected. Drawings will be conducted on or about 10/29/18 by a representative of Sponsor, whose decisions are final on all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received.  Prizes will be awarded and potential winners will be notified by mention and/or direct message on Instagram. Prizes are nontransferable and no cash substitution is allowed except by the Sponsor, who reserves the right to award prizes of equal or greater value if advertised prizes are unavailable.  LIMIT ON PRIZE PER PERSON.

5. GENERAL RULES: Taxes, related to the prizes are the winners’ sole responsibility, if applicable. Prize winners may be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release (where legal) within five (5) days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner selected. Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and alternate selection. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to use winner’s name, likeness, image, photo, sobriquet and biographical information for promotional purposes without further compensation except where prohibited by law. By entering, entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these OFFICIAL RULES and winners release Sponsor, and their subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents and all others associated with the development and execution of the Sweepstakes from any and all liability for damages, losses or injury resulting from participation in the Sweepstakes or acceptance or use of prize. GOVERNING LAW & VENUE: THE NEW YORK COURTS (STATE & FEDERAL) SHALL HAVE SOLE JURISDICTION OF ANY CONTROVERSIES REGARDING THE SWEEPSTAKES AND THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK SHALL GOVERN THE SAME. EACH ENTRANT WAIVES ANY AND ALL OBJECTIONS TO JURISDICTION AND HEREBY IRREVOCABLY SUBMITS TO THE VENUE OF THOSE COURTS WITHIN THE COUNTIES OF NASSAU AND SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK.
